USCity.net Foils Spam Attempt to Millions of AOL E-Mail Addresses

June 29, 2004 -- According to USCity.net's Vice President, Mary Crawford, the first mega-spam was recognized when spammers tried to exploit a vulnerability in a web-based mail-form program. The mail-form program at USCity.net is actually a honey-pot tarpit which intercepts and captures spam.

Crawford states that "to date, we have intercepted and captured over 3000 such spam blasts. Most appear to be directed at AOL email accounts and involve millions of attempted spam deliveries."

Uscity.net has turned all the information gathered from the attempted spam blasts over to both AOL and the Federal Trade Commission.

"We are attempting to do what we can to combat spam. We have received no response from either AOL or the FTC. At least we are stopping millions of spam emails from being delivered" states Crawford.

Uscity.net is the nation's online internet directory, with over 600,000 safe, business member links.
